Patricia Shiplett is best known for her large metal sculptures. Daily production of the welded works of art occurs at her shop in an industrial area in Saskatoon. This work is predominately mild and stainless steel, manipulated by heat and brute force, into soft fluid forms, reminiscent of satin cloth or butter-soft leather. Other sensuous works designed for the landscape incorporate the opposing forces of science and nature into swirling, spatial microcosms. In 2009 she received two significant corporate commission for large-scale outdoor sculpture which will be unveiled early fall of this year.
Patricia Shiplett has participated in public gallery shows which include the Mendel Art Gallery, St. Thomas Moore Art Gallery and the Snelgrove Art Gallery and her work is available through private galleries in Saskatchewan, British Columbia and Alberta.
Mediums: video, soundscapes, painting, sculpture, mixed media, and painting.
