Morley is a retired educator who lives and farms near Yorkton, Saskatchewan. For over ten years he has been making traditional woven willow hoop and handle baskets; which can be traced back to early Saskatchewan aboriginals and settlers. He enjoys teaching others the skills of basketry and finds that most people are attracted to the rustic natural quality of willow baskets.
Morley’s work was selected for the SCC’s annual Fine Craft exhibition “Dimensions” in 2006, and received an Award for Excellence in Functional and Production Ware. Morley and fellow basket maker, Shelly Westberg, provide baskets for the Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan to give as gifts to various heads of state and other dignitaries, including Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. |
