Weaving has been a major activity in Shelley Hamilton's life since 1974. She was first exposed to weaving at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design where she worked as a counsellor after her post graduate work. She took her first weaving classes in backstrap and floorloom weaving there. Weaving has become a source of creative expression and an effective outlet for stress reduction.
Shelley was a founding member of Artisans Craft Market. Her weaving has been chosen several times for SCC's annual exhibition "Dimensions" as well as various other guild shows. She has been an active member of the Saskatoon Spinner and Weavers Guild as well as the Saskatchewan Weavers and Spinners Guild. Both guilds are supportive, stimulating and inspiring sources of ideas and fellowship for her. |
