Born in South Africa and living in Ontario since 1993, she recently moved to Chaplin when her husband came to the Prairies on a work contract. An award winning production potter for 35 years Monica creates colourful functional stoneware pottery.
She graduated in 1975 with a Teaching Degree in Fine Art and set up a pottery studio. She had exhibited extensively in South Africa, United States and Canada. Monica headed the Ceramic Department at Brakpan Technical College and did further studies at Witwatersrand Technichon in Printmaking, Painting, Art history, Conceptual art, Drawing and Ceramic Design.
She had been part of the Medalta artist in Residence program and participated in workshops with Les Manning, John Gibson, Matthias Ostermann and Pete Callas developing her artistic skills and passing it on to the many artists she is mentoring. |
