The Regina Stitchery Guild is a well established guild that was organized in February 1977 by a small group of enthusiastic stitchers who felt there was a need to bring together those who shared a common interest in needlework. The Regina Stitchery Guild is a chapter member of the Embroiderers' Association of Canada and sponsoring member of the National Standards Council of American Embroiderers.
The philosophy of the Guild is to"Promote and encourage the practice and knowledge of the art of stitchery in all of its forms."
The Guild strives to maintain its mandate through workshops, programs, and lectures to encourage members and the public to learn about and enjoy the many facets of stitchery done with threaded needle.
Needlework and stitchery are synonymous, encompassing a wide spectrum of techniques. Simple as well as complex techniques may be combined to create a variety of richly textured stitches, fabrics and threads. Combining techniques adds even more interest and visual impact to a project.
The activities of the Regina Stitchery Guild focus on embroidery techniques using a threaded needle. Some of the techniques featured in the Guild include: Battenberg Lace, Blackwork, Brazilian, Canvas Work, Crewel, Counted Cross Stitch, Drawn Thread, Hardandanger, Kogin, Metal Thread Embroidery, Pulled Thread, Smocking, and many others. |
