Folmer Hansen completed a five year apprenticeship in ceramics in his native Denmark. In 1957, he moved to Canada, and shortly thereafter moved to Fort Qu’Appelle to teach at the Saskatchewan Arts Board Craft Centre. In 1960, Folmer and partner David Ross established the Hansen Ross Pottery.
Folmer Hansen taught and inspired two generations of Saskatchewan potters. He was awarded an Honorary Lifetime Membership in the Saskatchewan Craft Council on November 28, 2008. |
