Born in Winnipeg, but living in Regina since 1976, Sharon has only recently begun to paint with watercolour.
“The ability of colour to set mood, and invoke emotions and memories fascinates me. Even if the subject is imaginary, the feelings that colour can provoke are very real.
My paintings start with colour gestures that can seem random and chaotic. Afterwards, using a pen and imagination, I find the form and structure of the underlying images and the spaces between them.
The colours are clear, bright and harmonious, and the natural forms that emerge – trees, flowers, water, sky - are familiar & happy, encouraging the viewer to step in closer and imagine the story.” |
